Anar Valiyev

Anar Valiyev is Associate Director of Advanced Foreign Service Program at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy.  He holds BA (1999) and MA (2001) in History from the Baku State University, as well as MA in Public Affairs (2003) from the Indiana University Bloomington and PhD in Urban and Public Affairs (2007) from the University of Louisville in Kentucky.  In 2007-2008 he was post-doctoral fellow and assistant professor at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic.  His areas of interest include urban terrorism and security, public policy, governance and democracy.  He has authored numerous articles and reviews for Human Security Journal, Middle East Review of International Affairs, Cold War Studies, Political Violence and Terrorism, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, International affairs, Terrorism Monitor, Central Asia and Caucasus Analyst, Urban Studies Encyclopaedia.
