Nazrin Mehdiyeva

Dr. Nazrin Mehdiyeva is a Consultant at Pöyry Energy Consulting, specialising in geopolitics and gas in Russia and the states of the Caspian basin.  She was previously a regional specialist at Oxford Analytica, providing strategic, energy and policy analysis on the former Soviet space.  Nazrin holds a D.Phil in International Relations from Oxford University, where she also previously earned an MPhil degree.  She has authored numerous articles, covering an array of subjects from Gazprom’s entry into the Sakhalin-2 consortium to the Nabucco pipeline and its alternatives, and the Caspian states’ foreign policy options in a multi-polar world.  Her book entitled Power Games in the Caucasus: Azerbaijan’s Foreign and Energy Policy Towards the West, Russia and the Middle East is due to be published in 2010 by I.B.Tauris.
