aDA internship story

Overwhelming majority of MADIA 2012 class did their internship programs with leading international organizations, ministries and embassies around the world. Students received financial support to subsidize their internships through internship loans, which helped them to cover their  expenses.

During this 4-10 week program, students receive first-hand experience on foreign policy issues and international affairs. Our students also take part in meetings, briefings with Azerbaijani embassies, officials from various government agencies, including Ministries of Foreign Affairs, members of parliament, think-tanks, and academia. Despite busy agenda, they have some free time to visit historic and cultural sites as well.

From Vienna to Rome, from Brussels to Prague and from Washington D.C. to Moscow, ADA students develop hands-on work experience in their respective areas. Interns not only gain practical work experience in a field that they intend to pursue, but also build experience and network. White House, European Commission, European Parliament, NATO and OSCE Parliamentary Assembly are some of the institutions that have welcomed our students for their sessions and numerous high-level official meetings.

"Internship for me is a great chance of getting new insights and becoming more familiar with my interest areas. Despite the fact that it is only beginning, I have already got broad information about the embassy work and, moreover, participated in high level official and important meetings and events. Internship gave me a chance to visit organizations, such as European Commission, European Parliament and NATO. It is a great experience and excellent chance of building network for my future career."- says Mr. Amil Hasanov of MADIA 2012 class who has currently interned at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Brussels.

Inspirations and exclamations of both local and international students come from the Hungarian Embassy in Baku; Azerbaijani missions in Prague, Vienna, Brussels, Rome, Washington. D.C. and Moscow; OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Liaison Office in Vienna and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

“By being an intern at the International Security Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, I have become familiar with the daily working procedures of the division and with the writing notes to the foreign embassies in Baku and letters to the embassies of Azerbaijan abroad. Besides that, through communication with high ranking and skilful diplomats of the division, I got an opportunity to be acquainted with their work experiences, share my future career goals with them and get advice, which has helped me to become more decisive in selecting a future path.” – Ms. Narmin Ahangari, MADIA 2012 student, intern at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

With full impressions, our students share their feelings and value of internships for them.

Mr. Nahid Jafarov, MADIA 2012, intern at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Moscow

"Internship is a bridge between theory and reality. Internship creates a chance to apply knowledge that one has acquired while studying. Thanks to the knowledge that I have gained in the classes at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, I am able to carry out my current task, which envisages discovering what Russian academics think and publish about Azerbaijan"

Mr. Nadir Sarajli, MADIA 2012, intern at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Brussels:

“Internship at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Kingdom of Belgium means a framework for personal development as a future diplomat. Internship programs are an exclusive opportunity offered for ADA students as a framework for their personal development as future diplomats. My internship at the Embassy gave me an interesting network in European Union institutions, Diaspora organizations and other various policy centers. I developed my negotiating, analyzing skills and management-related abilities through various meetings and conferences I’d attended and set my future career objectives and values. The most valuable lesson learnt through internship is the power of networking and contacts”.

With all this success and positive remarks, we would like to wish our students good luck with their internship programs and hope this project will help them build their rewarding careers!
