Energy Exporters: Politics, Society, and Economics

Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) hosted the Second Annual PhD Workshop, which took place on December 19-20, 2009 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The workshop focused on major energy exporting states. Topics included: distinctive social and political qualities of energy exporters, role and influence of these states in the international political system, conflict and foreign policy propensities of energy exporters, resource curse, the impact of oil price uncertainty on future energy production, state budgeting in energy exporters in price volatility, the impact of emerging climate change regimes on energy exporters, and other related topics.
The workshop was held at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) and brought together some 20 PhDs and PhD candidates in the discipline of social science, with special emphasis on international relations, political science, economics, environmental studies and international law. The workshop agenda includes a plenary session, thematic panels with presentations by PhD students, and comments and moderation by established scholars from around the globe.
