ADA Majlis is a series of analytical discourse, which extends one of the key missions of the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA). It draws attention to Azerbaijan's emergence as a regional leader, creates a thought-provoking public forum on current global issues and their impact on Azerbaijan.
It has three components: Majlis, Global Perspectives and Friday Hearings.
Climate Change returned to the global agenda towards the end of 2009, as the international community met at the Copenhagen Summit. In Azerbaijan, 2010 has been declared the year of environment.
The past year in Azerbaijan has witnessed the establishment of the first commercial wind farm in the country. The first waste-to-energy plant in the region is under construction and several other projects are being implemented across the country to reduce both greenhouse gas and the reliance on fossil fuels.
ADA Majlis takes a closer look at the debate from an Azerbaijani perspective and considers what can, should and is being done locally to promote an awareness of climate change and take concrete actions to address environmental concerns.
Joining us for the discussion are the Minister of Energy, Natiq Aliyev, the Minister of Ecology, Huseyngulu Bagirov as well as environmental scientists, researchers, activists, policymakers and entrepreneurs.
