Baku,Azerbaijan-Professor Mohammed Ayoob, University Distinguished Professor of International Relations and Coordinator of the Muslim Studies Program at Michigan State University, has been a consultant and a Visiting Professor at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) in the first trimester. He has been teaching International Diplomatic History at ADA’s Master of Arts in Diplomacy and International Affairs program. On October 2, 2009, Professor Ayoob spoke at Global Perspectives, ADA’s public lecture series.
The topic was “Many Faces of Political Islam - Image and Realities”. In his lecture, Professor Ayoob briefly described different aspects of political nature of Islam and its impact on the global politics. The lecture was attended by the students and faculty of ADA, as well as Foreign Service officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The presentation was followed by a lively question and answer session.
Professor Mohammed Ayoob has a distinguished career. As a specialist on conflict and security in the Third World, his publications on the subject have included conceptual essays and case studies dealing with South Asia, the Middle East, the Persian Gulf, and Southeast Asia. He has held faculty appointments in Australia, India, and the United States.
Global Perspectives is on-the-record forum at ADA. Discussion and debate focus on issues of foreign policy importance only.
