Baku,Azerbaijan-On January 11, 2009, the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy presented the book “The Honorary Consul Institution in International Law”, written by the chief of department of human rights, democratization and humanitarian issues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alimirzamin Askerov.
In his opening remark, the Rector of the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, Hafiz Pashayev explained that on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic service in Azerbaijan, the Ministry and ADA are publishing a number of books. Last year, ADA published two books, Azerbaijan in Global Politics: Crafting Foreign Policy and Azerbaijan in the World (Volume 1). A new book written by Mr. Askerov has been approved by the Ministry of Education to be prescribed at university level.
Co-author Alimirzamin Askerov noted that this is the first Azerbaijani book on the issue and presents comprehensive information about the creation of the honorary consul service in Azerbaijan, the difference between these and from consul generals in terms of their duties and obligations in the country of service, and the legal framework and juridical limitations on honorary consuls.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vaqif Sadiqov also participated at the book presentation.
