Former Justice minister of France Rachida Dati speaks about cooperation within the EU framework (PHOTO SESSION)

Baku, Azerbaijan - Former Justice minister of France, Member of the European Parliament and Mayor of the 7th arrondissement of Paris, Ms. Rachida Dati spoke about the relations between the EU and Azerbaijan.

Ms. Dati noted that the EU pays particular attention to the South Caucasian region, particularly in the aftermath of the gas conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The former minister reminded the audience that in 2009 “Eastern Partnership” program was launched. The program’s aim is not only to enhance the energy security of Europe but also to foster free trade and ease  visa limitations between the EU and Caucasus countries.

Ms. Dati especially touched upon Azerbaijan’s leading role in the region, and compared Baku to Paris in its beauty.

Ms. Dati arrived in Baku to participate in the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue.
