Director of Business and Finance

JOB SUMMARY

Director of Business and Finance provides overall management and leadership of financial and business operations including providing strategic vision, direction and policy development, develops the annual and wide-range budgets, designs an internal audit plan for ADA, and demonstrates the ability to establish strong working relationships with government agencies, legal counsel and outside auditors, management team and staff.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• University degree in accounting, finance, business or public administration (MBA preferred)
• Five year’s successful work experience in related field
• Considerable knowledge of principles of supervision and management
• Understanding of financial and business management principles and techniques
• Extensive knowledge of government sector requirements and procedures related to accounting, finance, reporting, and payroll
• Fiscal experience at a managerial level that includes knowledge of annual budgets and budget planning
• Ability to develop year-end financial reports
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and project management skills
• Excellent computer skills and knowledge of data base programs, record keeping
• Must be analytical, proactive, and be a team player
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Developing, modifying and implementing financial and business operational specifications and controls, financial systems, and policies and procedures
• Coordinating the preparation, administration, supervision and control of the budget; reviewing financial statements; evaluating budget variances; analyzing trends in financial performance; and, resolving financial issues affecting the Academy
• Ensuring the Academy is in compliance with all internal policies and relevant regulations and ensuring filings are completed in a timely manner
• Ensuring reports and disclosures comply with applicable governmental regulations, professional standards and Academy policies
• Developing a fiscal year estimate of revenue and cost for operating the Academy system
• Preparing of quarterly reports to the Social Security Fund
• Submitting annual and quarterly financial reports and declarations to the Tax Office
• Overseeing the external audit, reviewing and analyzing results and recommending for approval the audited financial statements
• Developing and preparing a monthly management reporting package
• Reviewing and approving recommendations for financial planning and control, and presenting relevant information to executive management
• Managing the payroll function ensuring efficient systems, process and controls
• Supervising the accounts payable processes and procedures
• Administering a program for processing supplies and equipment, maintaining inventory control and stockroom requisitions
• Working closely with Development Officer to develop project-based budgets and budget narrative for grant preparation purposes
• Overseeing and monitoring the scheduling, pricing, accounting and technical performance of various directorate contracts, projects, and programs
