The Law Program conducted seminar "Mediation and its Benefits for Business"

On October 1, 2019, the Law program of ADA University conducted the seminar entitled Mediation and its Benefits for Business.

Head of the Law Program Dr. Rashad Ibadov welcomed the guests and introduced distinctive speakers  Dr. Denize Kite Güner, the first accredited mediator of Turkey and Mr. Rashid Mammadov, Legal & Policy Officer at the American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan (AmCham Azerbaijan) to share their knowledge and experience on mediation and the new decree on the application of Mediation law adopted by the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Dr. Güner noted the role of state and non-state actors in facilitating conflicts between the disputed parties, informed the students about the professional features of a mediator, and reinforced her speech with real-case examples.

Dr. Kite said, “We observed international conflicts in various periods of history. During the collapse of the Eastern bloc, we observed how conflicts can even dissolve the families. From this perspective, the mediators should have a clear understanding of how to tackle small and large-scale conflicts and violations.”

Mr. Rashid Mammadov talked about the Decree signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the application of the Law on Mediation (dated March 29, 2019). Mr. Mammadov informed the audience about the area of application of the Law and its principles.
