My philosophy statement for teaching and learning is based on my understanding of the field of education including learning theories, research methods in social science, educational leadership, curriculum, assessment and instruction, and instructional design. I believe that the most effective teaching and learning occurs when instructors create a safe, interactive, and collaborative environment which encourages students to openly present their viewpoints as well as advance their problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
