Description
The Engineer role is a key position in Infrastructure Management function of the IT & S department. This role is responsible of practical and operational (hands on) deployment, security and support of IT infrastructure technologies to include voice, data communication systems, local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN, WIFI) routers, switches, servers, email, virtual server infrastructure, security systems (firewalls, anti-virus systems, etc.), data centers, routine control of business continuity (i.e., backup / recovery plans / systems, disaster recovery plans /systems, hardware / firmware patching standards) for ADA University in accordance with the assigned responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Responds to requests for assistance as per internal practice (in person, via phone, email, portal, etc.);
- Assists internal and external stakeholders with troubleshooting of IT Infrastructure related issues.
- Maintains up-to-date records and descriptions of hardware and software elements assigned for administration
- Provides superior customer service to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Be able to work independently and troubleshoot minor issues, but at the same time complying with internal incident escalation guideline.
- Demonstrate good social and communication skills in a professional environment.
- Performs initial diagnostics and suggests solutions for technical hardware and software issues.
- Maintains required knowledge and skills to recognize issues between different IT Infrastructure components/layers and coordinate troubleshooting with peers within and between divisions of the department
- Based on incoming incident and problem requests conducts continuous self-development and research using available resources (vendor knowledgebases, experience sharing, internal and external training, self-education).
- Stays up to date with system information, changes and upgrades
- Performs procedural, well-defined activities within the available system functionality and recognizes ways and methods to optimize current infrastructure in relevance to assigned scope in accordance with Infrastructure Management Administration track
- Performs other relevant duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor
- Other responsibilities according to assigned Infrastructure Management Administration track.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (IT, Engineering, Computer Science) and minimum of 2-year relevant experience in a similar role / IT Service Desk support / system support
- Good familiarity with the infrastructure components and functionality of the systems in scope as defined in assigned Infrastructure Management administration track (trainable), ability to recognize and advise available functionality to address relevant user requests and inquiries
- Good PC literacy skills
