30th anniversary of Berlin's wall fall at ADA University

This November Germany started the celebration of 30th  anniversary of Berlin's wall fall. The full swing of a celebration is continuing with a series of activities, lectures, and seminars in multiple countries.

On November 13, 2019, ADA University also joined the anniversary celebration by hosting a lecture by German historian Professor Dr. Oliver Reisner which was jointly organized by the German Embassy in Azerbaijan and DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). Dr. Reisner is the Jean Monnet Professor in European & Caucasian Studies at Ilia State University.

The students, representatives of the German embassy, and the panelists met to discuss the main motives behind the establishment of wall, socio-cultural aspects dominated on perceptions of the divided nation during 1961-1989, the historical backgrounds that triggered the Berlin's wall fall which changed the destiny of a people overnight.

Professor Dr. Oliver Reisner highlighted that a wave of transformative changes expanded dimension and easily spread the Baltic States. He reinforced his statement by quoting: "It took ten years in Poland; ten months in Hungary; ten weeks in GDR; perhaps only ten days in Checzlovakia!"

After the panel discussions, participants of the lecture had a chance to see the remarkable collection of photos took during the Berlin wall tension.
