Luiss Guido Carli on a visit to ADA University within Italy-Azerbaijan University

Luiss Guido Carli, the leading university from Italian side within the Italy-Azerbaijan University visited ADA University on January 22-27, 2023. The delegation was led by the Deputy Rector for Internationalization Raffaele Marchetti.

Throughout, Rector Hafiz Pashayev of ADA University has led discussions on the role of cooperation with Luiss within Italy-Azerbaijan University to connect businesses, industry and regulatory bodies and explore ways to benefit from the know-how of “Made in Italy” in future program development process with a focus on “Made in Azerbaijan”.

The delegation maintained high level discussions with the Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Deputy Minister of Economy Samad Bashirli. To better understand lifestyle, uniqueness of local culture and branding potential in crafts, food and tourism, the delegation visited regions outside Baku and participated round table discussion with executives of AzPromo, Kobia – Small and Medium Business Development Agency and Confederation of Entrepreneurs.

The delegation also met the Ambassador of Italy to Azerbaijan Claudio Taffuri to discuss the framework of the collaboration and perspectives.

The launching event of the first graduate programs offered by ADA University within Italy-Azerbaijan University took place on January 25, 2023. One of these programs – Global Management and Politics was launched with Luiss University. The other master’s degree program – Food System Management - was launched with the University of Bologna.

According to Galib Mammad, the head of the Task Force for Italy-Azerbaijan University, the partnership with Luiss will help accelerate the benefits of small and medium businesses as backbone of economy, breed new generation of culture conscious entrepreneurship and brand-conscious managers.

The Deputy Rector of Luiss University Raffaele Marchetti underlined that GMAP is an interdisciplinary program that aims to prepare business administrators who understand complex management issues as well as have deep comprehension both of global political and local social-economic overviews. An important aspect of this program is also its focus on “Made in Azerbaijan”. Drawing from the know-how and excellence of “Made in Italy”, this program will teach creating, managing, and promoting the “Made in Azerbaijan” quality label.

Luiss visit follows the visit of Politecnico di Torino a month ago. The same week when Luiss arrived, another partner of Italy-Azerbaijan University, Politecnico di Milano visited ADA University to present the results of its preliminary study conducted since May 2022 for the establishment of the School of Design and Architecture within Italy-Azerbaijan University.
