Lotfi Zadeh Scholarship is granted for the first time, academic excellence across Schools celebrated.

Newly introduced ADA University scholarship named after the renowned Azerbaijani American computer scientist and engineer Lotfi Zadeh will honor the academic success of undergraduate students at the School of IT and Engineering. The scholarship was awarded for the first time on February 4th, the birthday of Zadeh, “Father of Mathematical Fuzzy Logic”.  The award was granted to seven students- Rashad Nagiyev, Lala Asgarova, Anar Mehraliyev, Ismayil Ismayilov, Elnur Abdullayev, Fidan Aliyeva, and Sevnj Jafarli. This means the group demonstrated the perfect 4.0 GPA for the equivalent of a semester course load.

Initiated by ADA University Rector Hafiz Pashayev “The Lotfi Zadeh Scholarship” grants 100% tuition waiver for the duration of the semester. “The legacy of Lotfi Zadeh is very important for our SITE students. We are happy their academic excellence will be tied to his name from now on,” said Rector Pashayev in his remarks at the Award Ceremony. Also celebrated were 18 international students, recipients of Alimardan bey Topchubashov Fellowship for their high academic achievements. The Fellowship is granted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

According to the University’s Academic Analysis and Planning Unit, around 300 students across all academic programs demonstrated high results, making more than 10% of ADA student body. The University will give away more than 1.5 million AZN in tuition waivers in Spring, 2019 as an award for excellence to scholars who, with their hard work have shown outstanding academic potential. Various donor companies including Pasha Bank will take a part towards supporting students by funding their scholarship.

The scholarships are given to bachelors and masters in three categories: Rector’s Honor List, Dean’s List of Distinction and High Performers List.  The majority of the awards were for the demonstrated academic excellence in undergraduate level.

Each of four schools held their own Academic Excellence Ceremonies to grant Certificates of Excellence to top students. At the events, University administration and Faculty were joined by scholarship donors and ADA partners to celebrate the students’ high moment. Vice-Rector Ismailzade, Vice-Rector Kazdal, as well as Dean Valiyev, Dean Nurmammadov and Dean Yusubov praised the recipients and wished them an equally successful journey ahead. Donors and partners were thanked by the ADA Foundation president Hajiyev for their generosity in recognizing the core ADA value- academic excellence.
