ADA University’s Newly Established Faculty of Design and Architecture Hosts Seminar Series within Urban Awareness Campaign

ADA University’s newly established Faculty of Design and Architecture has organized a series of seminars within the framework of the Azerbaijan Urban Awareness Campaign, aiming to strengthen the exchange of academic and practical knowledge and to foster intellectual discussions ahead of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF 13), which will be held in Baku in 2026.

The seminar series brought together academic and professional audiences to explore key topics presented by faculty members Anhel Ampuero Cordero, Ermes Invernizzi, Melania Visentini, and Dina Jovanović Lombardo. The lectures focused on the relationship between architectural spaces and human interaction, the connection between collective memory and national identity, the role of new technologies in the preservation and management of cultural heritage, and user participation in spatial design processes.

In addition, the seminars addressed the application of user-centered and participatory design approaches in shaping contemporary work environments, as well as the integration of innovative technologies in cultural heritage management. These discussions contributed to promoting multidisciplinary approaches in design and architecture in Azerbaijan, while strengthening constructive dialogue between international best practices and the local context.

As part of its efforts to expand collaboration with international academic and creative networks, the Faculty hosted Professor Tijana Roško from the University of Manitoba, Canada, as a guest speaker. She delivered a presentation on innovative and sustainable design approaches, discussed the relationship between academia and the creative industries, and shared her professional experience from international creative platforms with young designers and students.

The Faculty of Design and Architecture at ADA University plans to continue the seminar series in 2026, reaffirming its commitment to advancing innovative, inclusive, and globally oriented design and architecture education in Azerbaijan.
