CALL FOR APLLICATION (PhD STUDY OPPORTUNITY-2023)

Within the recently adopted Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the Implementation of the Italy-Azerbaijan University project (21.10.2022) ADA University is pleased to announce a Call for Application for 2023 to pursue the doctorate studies at the partner Universities in Italy in the following areas:    

• Agriculture (animal production, plant production, sustainable and precise agriculture, horticultural science)
• Food science and technology (food safety and risk management, food and beverage fermentation)
• Architecture
• Design (interior design, product and service design, communication design)
• Urban studies
• Landscape and Public Space Design
• Electrical Engineering

ADA University closely collaborates with its counterparts from University of Bologna, Politecnico di Milano, Politecnico di Torino, Sapienza University of Rome and Luiss Guido Carli University to develop a critical mass of professors and scholars specializing in new program portfolio by enrolling them in fully funded PhD studies.

These Universities offer competitive PhD programs, aiming at training high profile professional figures in national and international academic institutions, companies, professional firms, public administrators, and research institutions.

The PhD degree in respective Italian Universities requires a study and research activity of at least three years equivalent to full-time study, research, and development of a PhD thesis.

Selection procedures       

The admission process consists of several stages:

• The first stage includes application review and oral interviews led by the Selection Board of ADA University. The Board evaluates candidates’ application based on the following criteria: level of English language proficiency, relevant academic and professional backgrounds, content knowledge, research experiences, aspirations, achievements in the field. 
• The applicants successfully passing the interview stage will be asked to register and apply for each year’s PhD cycle with the respective Italian University. The applicants will have to follow admission procedures of an admitting university.
• The admitted applicants will then be required to file and submit the application for a scholarship (state funding) through the “State Program on Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023”.

ADA University PhD Support and Development Department will be supporting the candidates throughout the whole process.

Candidates Selection requirements

Applications are accepted from candidates, who have earned MA/ MS degree in the above -mentioned fields and other close disciplines or are currently in their last year of graduate studies. Candidates who do not hold their graduate degree at the time of the application are admitted “with reserve” until they obtain it.

Candidates should possess a good command of English (minimum 6.5 IELTS equivalent). Candidates with high academic and professional background with lower level of English are encouraged to be enrolled in ADA English for Academic and Professional Purposes program or other language programs to upgrade their English language skills.

Candidates should demonstrate considerable research and writing skills.

All interested candidates must submit their CV, statement of purpose and writing sample (e.g. Bachelor or Master thesis, or any research paper that may demonstrate your research and writing skills) to phd@ada.edu.az no later than November 15, 2022. Only shortlisted applicants will be invited to the interview with ADA University Selection Board.
