The ADA University team won the "CanSat Azerbaijan 2023" student model satellite competition hosted by the Azerbaijan Space Agency - "Azerkosmos.”

The 5th annual competition, held in honor of National Leader Heydar Aliyev's 100th anniversary, aims to encourage students to pursue careers in space exploration, provide them with a foundation of knowledge and skills in the field, and offer opportunities for locals to participate in the space industry. During the competition, participants were assigned tasks in engineering fields such as electronics, mechanics, and programming.

The "CanStellar" team, made up of ADA University students from the School of Information Technologies and Engineering, participated in the competition's design, implementation, pre-flight examinations, and final flight phases with excellent performance. In the last phase, they loaded the rocket with the 500-gram model satellite they had built and shot it off into the sky from a height of 200 metres. The judges decided that Aykhan Ismayilzada, Hajar Naghiyeva, Huseyn Sabziyev, Ilhama Novruzova, Khalid Mammadov, and Nargiz Aliyeva's team secured first place and a cash reward from "Azerkosmos" based on the evaluation criteria established for the competition.
