On December 9, ADA University hosted the meeting of Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov with the delegation headed by State Secretary of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and co-chair of joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Republic of Italy Manlio Di Stefano.
In the framework of the state visit of Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Italy in February of 2020, ADA University and the Luiss University (Italy) signed an agreement to expand the Italy-Azerbaijan education program and to establish Italy-Azerbaijan University.
Rector of ADA University, Ambassador Hafiz Pashayev has provided the delegation with information on implemented preparatory activities as a part of the agreement.
During the meeting, Minister Parviz Shahbazov conveyed his gratitude to the guest for the position that the Italian government took in the course of the Karabakh conflict, as well as for the feedback to the letter addressed to the Secretary of State in a short period of time.
Mr. Manlio shared his post-visit impressions of Aghdam liberated from the Armenian occupation, by highlighting that Italian companies are keen on taking an active role in the reconstruction of the liberated territories after the Great victory. The sides also touched upon the economic and trade relations between the two countries and discussed the ongoing and prospective projects with Italian companies.
The last segment of the highly important Southern Gas Corridor and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline was among the discussed topics. It has been noted that Azerbaijani gas would soon be transported to Europe through the corridor.
At the end of the meeting, delegations agreed on holding a videoconference to discuss the details of the preparation of the 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Italy to be held in Baku next year.
